Go outside or find reference images of plants and flowers, then sketch detailed studies focusing on their structure, texture, and subtle variations in colour.

There is so much happening in the garden and hedgerows at the moment!

Skill Development: Enhances botanical illustration skills, attention to detail, and patience.

Time: 30-45 minutes per study.

Now, as you know I'm not very good a the patience thing! But a simple observational drawing can be very engrossing. Try just using coloured pencils to bring immediate colour. Why not add a splash of watercolour to a sketch?

If you want to just work with watercolour why not try this fun way of painting, using paper dams!
