Monthly Sketchbook Inspiration
Set a timer for 1-2 minutes and sketch quick gesture drawings of people or animals in motion. Focus on capturing the essence and flow of movement.
This can be quite daunting, start with people or animals sitting still. try to get the basic shape or pose. Then move on to those in motion!
Skill Development: Enhances speed, fluidity, and understanding of human or animal anatomy.
Time: 10-15 minutes for a series of gestures.
I love using continuous lines to capture an image quickly.
The first image below is quick continuous line drawings of peoples faces, my timer was set for 3 minutes.
The second image is from a life drawing session, I used a biro to sketch during this 5 minute pose.
The last two images are sketches of wild birds sketched at Chichester Harbour.
Want to know more about drawing with a biro?
