About Me

I’m Tricia Johnson, a professional artist and printmaker based in West Somerset, working across drawing, mixed media, and printmaking. My practice is rooted in expressive mark-making, material exploration, and close observation of the natural world.

After studying Art & Design at Stourbridge Art College, I went on to complete a BA (Hons) in Art with Related Arts at Chichester University. While my work spans multiple disciplines, my practice has increasingly returned to printmaking, particularly intaglio and relief processes, where texture, layering, and physical engagement with materials play a central role.

Artistic Practice

My work is inspired by the coast, countryside, and wildlife, shaped through walking, sketching, and slow observation. I’m drawn to the quiet rhythms of natural forms and the translation of these into line, tone, and surface.

Printmaking allows me to balance control and chance. I enjoy combining traditional techniques with contemporary approaches, building images that feel tactile, instinctive, and grounded in process.

Studio & Ongoing Work

Now living and working in West Somerset, I continue to develop my printmaking and drawing practice alongside teaching. My work is process-led allowing me to learning different printing methods and helping me to experiment with distinctive approaches to my printmaking.  I continue to enjoy drawing and working painterly with a variety of mixed media, developing my own instinctive style over many other art disciplines.
