This course is suitable for all levels as individual support will be given, some drawing skills are useful.

The course is designed to support personal projects in a variety of mediums; drawing, watercolours, acrylics, coloured pencil, pastels, pen and ink.

Pastels at Petworth Shapes in nature - beginners pastels

A morning exploring the medium of pastels, where you will create your own artwork inspired from the shapes and details that can be found within the grounds of Petworth House. You will be supported through simple exercises and individual feedback and guidance will be provided.

Pastels at Petworth Space in nature - follow on/ intermediate

Spend the afternoon creating pastel thumbnail views inspired by the Petworth House grounds.

In a friendly and supportive group, you will explore form and texture, along with depicting positive and negative space, building up a personal response to the landscape.

Life drawing - Mono screen printing

Working with a life model you will be making initial sketches before painting directly onto a screen to create Mono Screen Print images. Suitable for all levels.

Bring your sketchbook and favourite media, the day is suitable for all abilities as Tricia will be on hand all day to offer support and advice. We will follow the 'plant hunters trail' around the garden exploring the use of viewfinders for mini sketches.

26th July 2021 10am - 3:30pm

Madehurst concertina sketchbook

The day begins with studio preparation of your concertina sketchbook. You will then work on interlinking drawings of views around the cricket club. Finally you will return to modify your images and complete your concertina sketchbook with the support of Tricia. This is chance to spend the day relaxing and being creative in the wonderful grounds of the cricket club. The day is suitable for all abilities as the tutor will be on hand all day to offer support and advice.

A mindful day to stroll the grounds of Petworth House and start a concertina sketchbook of landscapes and views. Focusing on working in black ink. You will be guided through different approaches to creatively respond to what you see around you and capture a sense of place.

Fantastic opportunity to paint in a the beautiful 2 acres surrounding a Medieval hall house in Shipley. Find a view, 'Monet-style' and capture the beauty of the late summer flowers. I will guide you through choosing a vignette, plotting out your sketch and choosing colours to depict your scene.
